Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil Domaine du Plessis Renou
Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil is an appellation of the Loire Valley producing aromatic and elegant wines.
Vintage available 2023.
Soils contains sand and gravel, known as ‘Graves’. The domaine does not use any herbicide and control carefully the yield.
The 30 hectare’s domaine has been in the Renou’s Family for more than 5 generations.
Grape Variety: 100% Cabernet Franc.
Tasting Notes:
Robe: intense purple ruby red color.
Nose: very aromatic with red fruit of cherries, strawberry, raspberry, blackcurrant. Some reminescence of spices.
Palate: Lighter rather than its neighbour from Chinon. Tannins are supple as a result a friendly wine with elegant and silky structure with some power.
Food Pairing: Ideal with a local cheese such as Petit Sainte-Maure very tasting with a camembert or coulommiers spread on a fig bread. Additionally try it with a cold cut platter or some grilled meat on the BBQ. a Delight!
Serve at 15°C-16°C. Cabernet Franc grape variety is always better served slightly chilled. It is a fantastic pairing with Cantonese cuisine as well.
